Walmart has definitely stepped up their game in recent years and every time I walk in there I am impressed with the fashion finds I can get there. Some of these pieces I know I will love wearing well into winter. The huge earrings are something new for me and I even got a second piercing in my ear to accommodate wearing more of them!! I have never worn a body suit but with high waisted pants I do want to give this trend a try. With a more affordable option it’s something I am more willing to give a whirl with! Boots, boots and more boots!! I can not get enough of them and living in Chicago I feel as thought it’s always great to have options because you wear them for about 8 months out of the year! Not only is it convenient for me because I can do my grocery shopping at Walmart but I can also toss in a few cute tops and pants. I get tons of staples for my kids and even husband from there as well! Everything is very affordable and it helps me to feel put together! Check out some of the fall looks that caught my attention when I was last there!! Just click on the picture and you can shop everything in the picture! What do you think of the fall fashion at Walmart?!?

Ok so maybe you can’t click your heels and end up in Oz with these slippers but if you are suffering from foot pain they can make you feel like you’re in Oz. For me I have never ever paid any attention to shoes for comfort. I always wanted what was cute. When I worked on the unit as a nurse it’s when I found the importance of a good supportive shoe. That’s when Danskos were a life saver. I would wear these at most 13 hours a day and they really and truly saved me the pain if I didn’t have them. I didn’t have leg pain and when I came home after a shift my feet didn’t hurt. I had two pairs of danskos and those lasted me over ten years on my feet. When I was in my early twenties and running I really didn’t think shoes were important until I began having knee issues. I tried to run through these issues but enough pain and I just physically couldn’t. This was when I set foot into a running store.

Boy did this change my whole entire outlook on what happens with your feet while you walk and run. During this time I found that my feet were pronating meaning my feet needed support where my arch of the foot is because it tends to want to naturally rotate in. So I purchased a pair of shoes that would stabilize my foot and not allow my foot to pronate!! This was seriously like a godsend and almost immediately my knee issues went away.

When I was pregnant with my first I started to notice alot of pain in my feet again. Especially when I would take off my shoes at the end of the day and needed my poor swollen feet to relax. I asked my husband and he shared that when you are pregnant the ligaments and tissues and bones in your feet are softer because of all the hormones and I needed more supportive shoes and then he said slippers. I didn’t even think that this was a thing but low and behold they are!! Vionic slippers!! At first I laughed and thought these things are hideous but boy when I put them on they made a world of a difference!! If you suffer from planner fasciitis or are having any kind of foot pain give these a try. They are like having an orthotic without having one!! The support that they provide is amazing and has saved me alot of pain over the years. I ordered a second pair so that I can wash one pair and still have one to wear around the house! Do you have a pair or have you heard of them?

I think it’s so important to get ready for the day! Most of the world is quarantined and while it’s a new norm for a lot of people for me this happened back when I had my first baby. When I went from getting up and getting ready everyday to now staying at home with a baby it felt like a quarantine. I also had my baby in December which meant not that much of going outside either.

This is when things could get very mundane and you can let yourself just wear sweats all day or get ready for the day. The way I look at it, it’s my job. For any other job I have to get dressed and ready. Same thing applies here. For the past seven years I have been getting up and getting ready for my job as a mom. Some days it has to happen in spurts ,meaning I first put an outfit on and then makeup midmorning. Things with kids have to change depending on the day but I always do my best to have my mom uniform on!

What’s the importance of this? Well, for one it shows my kids an example that getting up and getting ready puts you in a different mind set. It helps get things done. When you’re dressed and ready to go you can get focused and motivated. While I love having lazy Saturdays where you do spend most of your day in pjs I don’t like to make a habit of it. When I’m dressed I feel like I can take on the world. Feeling good about yourself helps build your confidence and gives you that ‘I can do this’ attitude!! So make sure you get up and get dressed!! If you would like to know some of my favorites click the pictures below!! The vacuum that I love and has been a life savor is this one and this one I turn on in the evening and in the morning

These are uncertain times….

I was at Walmart yesterday and that was my first time leaving my house in nearly 3 weeks. It felt weird to drive my car, awkward to walk into a store and have security standing in the produce section as well as the entrances. Some people with masks and gloves. People very much aware of their surroundings and others just standing and conversing with one another.

On this trip I needed to make the most of it because I new I did not want to be coming out again anytime soon. I worked my way over to the personal care section and noticed that most of the press on nails were gone!! I nearly panicked because I thought I would stock up but I only had 3 to choose from This is when I realized that most people who were use to going to the salon are now needing to have their fill ins and are opting to just use press ons for the polished look!!

I have not been to a salon in years. Mostly because I don’t have the time but also since I met my husband he has shared the foot issues people have and usually the poor hygiene of these salons and well this was enough for me to stay away. P.S my husband is a podiatrist. So I have been giving myself a mani and pedi every two weeks for nearly the past 10 years. It’s easy and very satisfying and I love being able to do it on my own and not rely on someone else! A tip that I would like to share with you all is the more you do it the better you get at doing it! You also will learn all the tools you like and dislike! For myself my favorite top coat is the Out the door. I have tried them all including Seche Vite and this in my opinion is way better, more affordable and doesn’t become a goopy mess half way through the bottle. I also use Amalactin religiously on my hands and feet. This is something the cures cracks!! It seriously is like a miracle lotion! As for nail polish colors I’m not at all particular about the brand as much as I like the color. I also ALWAYS wear some sort of slipper around the house. I not only like the cozy feel but also it helps prevent those calluses and cracked feet!

I thought during these uncertain times I would share every thing that I like to use and the importance of still maintaining these good grooming habits. It helps you to feel good about yourself as well as continue with some normalcy! I know that I always feel so much better when my nails are nice and clean and neat!! Have you been doing your nails on your own?

Thanks!!

I Love a Good #plannerbag

I do believe in a great planner bag!! It’s one of my top criteria when I am choosing a new bag! It has to fit a planner!! I always need a notebook or something with me! I also nearly always carry my kindle with me since I look for any minute so I can sneak in some reading time! So of course when I am choosing a bag it needs to fit all these items as well as be a kid friendly bag. Now I have tried traditional diaper bags but most of the time I HATE them!! I hate that they have a childish pattern on them and I don’t like the colors and I just feel so yuck! It’s not me!! So I have basically chosen bags that can act as a diaper bag but don’t look like one. I also use lots and lots of pouches to keep my bags organized so that things don’t get lost! I always carry snacks for my kids and toys and books and hand sanitizer, basically everything but the kitchen sink!! So when on the hunt and then I find a great bag!! You better believe I’m sold when it’s 40% off!!

What do you think about my choices?!?
